Project description
Within the framework of its activities of the characterization and the cutting-up of radioactive waste packages, the CEA of CADARACHE wished to be equipped with a new conveyor, allowing the insertion of drums into a shielded cell.
One of the main technical difficulties concerns the thresholds and interlocking of doors between the access locks, which required complex mechanics given the mass of the packages (up to 3 tons). The solution studied and realized by DEFI SYSTEMES, which consists of a set of telescopic conveyors with motorized deployment, was the subject of a load test allowing to validate its capacity (test load 4.5 tons).
Within the framework of this project, DEFI SYSTEMES' teams carried out the studies, the fabrication, the adjustment in factory, as well as the installation and the start-up of the equipment on the customer's site. This last phase was the subject of specific preparation and a radiation protection follow-up, considering the zoning constraints of the installation cell.
