Project
Project description
To study the ageing of materials used in a nuclear reactor, the CEA carries out tests to define their physico-chemical characterization after irradiation. To prepare specimens for mechanical tests from irradiated samples, the CEA of SACLAY uses cutting and machining equipment in a shielded enclosure, accessible only by remote handling.
To reinforce its machine park, the CEA wished to acquire a new wire cutting EDM machine, adapted to these conditions of use. In this context, DEFI SYSTEMES provided specific equipment, based on a standard processing machine of the FANUC brand, and meeting the customer's nuclearization standards (use in remote handling only, maintenance requirements, electronics offset, hardening of the mechanics, ...).
The solution, studied and developed in accordance with the feedback from CEA operators on remote handling, is currently being implemented and developed in the factory. To simulate the operating conditions in the cell as well as possible, a mock-up of the shielded cell has been provided for the needs of the tests.
All the equipment will then be installed on site by DEFI SYSTEMES, for a test phase conducted by CEA operators.
